Minit Stop Celebrates Honoka’a Location Grand Opening, May 22

If you haven’t had Minit Stop’s fried chicken, potato wedges, or Impossible Burger bowls, are you really a Big Island resident? Ok, maybe it’s not that serious, but if you haven’t gotten to enjoy some of the convenience store’s offerings when you stop to fill up at their Ohana Fuels pumps or when you stop for ice and snacks on your way to a day at the beach. Our family is a big fan of Minit Stop — we frequent the Orchidland location for fried chicken boxes, musubis, and Impossible Burger bowls on nights no one feels like cooking, and it’s a nice treat for a good price.

Here’s a little more about the new location:

The newest Minit Stop location on the Big Island is officially open! While an Ohana Fuels station has helped motorists Fuel Up and Do Good for a few years, Honoka‘a residents and visitors will now also be able to enjoy the convenience of Minit Stop’s retail and food service offerings on Mamane Street. You can find everything you love and need at Minit Stop, including hot food, cold drinks, and everyday items.

Of course, Minit Stop is well known for the tastiest fried chicken on the Island (and let’s not forget about those potato wedges!), along with many other delicious, convenient hot foods that make eating on-the-go affordable and ono. Minit Stop will be premiering its hot food items at the new Honoka‘a location on Monday, May 10, just in time for their official Grand Opening on May 22.

Set in the middle of historic Honoka‘a Town at 905 Mamane Street, Minit Stop is conveniently located near Honoka‘a Park and Honoka‘a High and Intermediate School. It’s a great place for visitors and locals to take a break and visit Honoka‘a as its main street continues to grow and thrive with a combination of new and historic restaurants, boutiques, and more.

Daphne Straus has been announced as the manager of the new location. She brings a strong history in retail and management, as well as an outstanding work ethic. Straus has been a shooting star amongst the Minit Stop ‘ohana thanks to her quick rise to store manager within just six months of her initial employment. From her first management position, she then moved on to manage a larger store at Kohanaiki, and is now the opening manager of Minit Stop’s newest location.

“We are very excited to be opening a new Minit Stop right in the heart of Honoka‘a. This historic town has really seen a revitalization in the past few years with an increase in local boutiques, contemporary eateries, and of course the culture and arts that the Honoka‘a People’s Theater brings to the area. We are grateful to be surrounded by so many wonderful local businesses, and we are proud to be of service to the Honoka‘a community,” Straus said.
